Late Late Show Highlights

Typically I review a late night talk show from the previous evening. I would be criminally remiss, however, if I ignored Tuesday night’s 1000th episode of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It was different, and it was hilarious. There are a lot of videos, so sit down, get comfortable and enjoy.

The show was guest-hosted by a Southern speaking “crock-agator” named Wavy Rancheros. Apparently Craig decided to skip his own show’s milestone.

Wavy did a musical number to open the show:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Wavy’s monologue was pretty short:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jason Schwartzman was the first couch guest. He and Wavy got along fairly well I thought:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Maria Bello was the second couch guest. It was a short, but funny, interview. Wavy is a decent flirt:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jason Segel and The Broken West performed Dracula’s Lament, a musical number from the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. For some reason the clip isn’t working, so you’ll have to go here to see it.

Kristen Bell was the third couch guest. Wavy did the flirting thing again with the same amount of success:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Wavy ended the show with another musical number. Unfortunately I can’t provide the clip here. You’ll need to go here to watch it. It’s worth it, though, as the second half contains behind the scenes making of the episode which are pretty cool.

A great and clever way to present a 1000th show. I give it:

Late Late Show Highlights

This week the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson is broadcasting the shows it did in Paris earlier in the year. It’s a pretty unique event, so I’m going to post all the clips from last night’s show so you can watch the whole thing. If you’re low on time or only want to watch the best segments you can read my comment before each clip and decide if it’s worth watching.

The pre-opening credit segment takes place in the show’s studio. It’s entertaining and goofy, but you won’t miss anything if you skip it:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

There wasn’t a monologue, but Craig sang, there was a funny sketch, Kristen Bell stuck her tongue out and the Eiffel Tower was in the background. So, all in all, it was pretty entertaining:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

The desk segment was easily the best part of the show. It starts with a quick Kristen Bell sketch, but after the first email Craig does emails with the owner of a bookstore. If you watch only one clip, watch this one:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

This next segment is Craig at the Eiffel Tower. Kristen joins him as well. It’s pretty decent, but can be skipped if you’ve got better things to do:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jacques Essebag was the first guest. He is known as Arthur on his late-night show in France, which apparently is a copycat of the Late Late Show. The segment takes place on a bus. It’s pretty good for what it is:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jean Reno was the second guest. He is an actor and a true Frenchman. Craig, Jean and Kristen shared a meal and talked, mostly about sharks. The segment is interesting enough:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

The closing segment takes place back at the studio. Skip it unless you really love it when Craig and Geoff interact:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

The show had some strong and weak moments, but it deserves the high marks just for making the effort. I give it:
