Late Late Show Highlights

I didn’t have the opportunity to record last night’s Late Show. So I figured I’d do the next best thing and watch The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. I’m glad I did. Craig’s opening ramble was very funny and worth watching:

The monologue was great. If you want to watch the nine minute unabridged version you can go here. Otherwise, here were my favorite jokes:

Did you know over the weekend a man dressed as Santa Claus robbed a Pennsylvania bank? Police describe the robber as armed and merry. According to witnesses the man walked into the bank and said, “Ho ho ho-ld up your hands where I can see them.” Police say the robber could strike again, so you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout and I’m telling you why, cause Santa Claus might put a cap in your ass.

Today Virgin Galactic unveiled their first space ship for tourists. They’re targeting very very rich people who want to leave the planet. The first passenger on the list at the moment is Tiger Woods. Found out today that mistress number eight, who’s going to come out tomorrow, is a cocktail waitress like numbers two and six. And mistress number nine is rumored to be a TV personality. I’m just hoping it’s me. Sports experts are saying that these affairs may permanently change the way we look at golf. And I think that’s true cause I’m already finding it more interesting.

The desk segment was viewer email. It was ok. Apparently Craig is ranked number 1 in a Canadian magazine poll of late night talk show hosts women want to sleep with. Lucky. Oh, and the best way to get high is doing good in your community.

Shirley Manson was the first couch guest. She is the lead singer of the band Garbage and is also an actress. After watching the interview I have now solved the mystery as to why I enjoy listening to Garbage. Turns out it’s because Shirley is totally awesome! The interview was terrific and I highly recommend it. Warning: it leans into NSFW territory often.

Mitch Albom was the second couch guest. He has done quite a bit of stuff, but is probably best known for authoring the NYT best-sellers Tuesdays with Morrie and Have a Little Faith.  I was really impressed with Mitch. He’s a very interesting person who has accomplished a lot but still feels like he has a lot more to do. The interview was very good. You can watch it here.

Craig ends his show with a segment called What Did We Learn On The Show Today Craig. It was very funny:

Great show. I give it my highest rating:

Late Late Show Highlights

Typically I review a late night talk show from the previous evening. I would be criminally remiss, however, if I ignored Tuesday night’s 1000th episode of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It was different, and it was hilarious. There are a lot of videos, so sit down, get comfortable and enjoy.

The show was guest-hosted by a Southern speaking “crock-agator” named Wavy Rancheros. Apparently Craig decided to skip his own show’s milestone.

Wavy did a musical number to open the show:

Wavy’s monologue was pretty short:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jason Schwartzman was the first couch guest. He and Wavy got along fairly well I thought:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Maria Bello was the second couch guest. It was a short, but funny, interview. Wavy is a decent flirt:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Jason Segel and The Broken West performed Dracula’s Lament, a musical number from the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. For some reason the clip isn’t working, so you’ll have to go here to see it.

Kristen Bell was the third couch guest. Wavy did the flirting thing again with the same amount of success:

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Wavy ended the show with another musical number. Unfortunately I can’t provide the clip here. You’ll need to go here to watch it. It’s worth it, though, as the second half contains behind the scenes making of the episode which are pretty cool.

A great and clever way to present a 1000th show. I give it:

Late Late Show Highlights

It’s been over a month since I reviewed an episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. That’s truly awful and I apologize. Let’s get right to it shall we.

His pre-opening credit bit was a funny advertisement for a new television comedy called Eddie and the Barbecue Guy. Check it out:

Never a slave to fashion, Craig started the show with the first couch guest, comedian and actor Eddie Izzard, instead of the monologue. The interview was like something out of a Seinfeld episode in that it was about nothing, made little to no sense and was absolutely entertaining. Here’s the first half:

The second half of the interview was pretty much a repeat of the first half. It was good, just not as good as the first half. So, if you want to see the second half you can either watch the first half again or go here.

The monologue came up next. Here were my favorite jokes:

Susan Boyle had a bit of a scare. She called the police after finding an intruder who had broken into her house, which must have been terrifying. Imagine walking into a dark living room, in the middle of the night, and bumping into Susan Boyle.

What we’d like to celebrate tonight is the birthday of the greatest musician who ever lived. I’m speaking of course of one of the Jonas Brothers.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birthday is today. He’s no longer with us of course. No, please, do not applaud. He cannot hear you. He’s dead. “Mozart’s dead?!” Yes. But if he were alive today he’d be saying, “Get me out of ze coffin, I’m alive!”

Now Mozart, of course, is from Austria, and his birthday is a very big deal over there. The Austrian people are always trumpeting the fact that Mozart is from there. I think what they try and do is take your mind off other very famous Austrians. [Craig does a subtle Hitler impersonation.]

He wrote over six hundred pieces of classical music, best known for his masterwork Rock Me Amadeus.

Myron Mixon was the second couch guest. Myron is a barbecue specialist who has been featured on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters.. Now, folks, we’re going to talk seriously here for a minute. This is one of the greatest late night segments I have ever seen. It is really terrific. I can’t suggest strongly enough that you watch it. You will laugh and you will salivate for over ten minutes.

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

The ending was forgettable, so we’re going to forget it.

Great show. I give it:
