Late Night Highlights

Anyone see Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night? There was nothing worth noting in the monologue, or the first desk segment. The second segment, however, was when the show really took off. Freestylin’ with the Roots was great. The Roots are really terrific. I wish I had a clip of it to embed.

Seth Myers was Fallon’s first guest. I like Seth a bunch. He just seems like a great guy. It’s probably the smile. Seth and Jimmy are old friends from SNL and reminisced about doing the Weekend Update segment. Here’s the bit where Seth shows a bombed joke clip from an SNL dress rehearsal:

Fallon then brought out Seth’s brother, Josh Myers. It was pretty funny. I bet growing up in that house was one hysterical adventure after another.

Michelle Trachtenberg was Fallon’s next guest. She spent a few years on one of my favorite shows of all time, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was pleasant and seems to be doing quite well. Good for her.

The final guest was BMX rider Mike Spinner. Mike did some cool tricks, and then got Jimmy involved:

I really like the fact that Jimmy is willing to try new things and embarrass himself for entertainment. He’s my kinda guy.

Overall it was a very good show. I give it an A.

Late Show and Late Night Highlights

Happy Cinco de Mayo to all my fans in Mexico. I’m not if I have any, but I like to cover my bases just in case.

Anyone see Late Night with Jimmy Fallon?  The monologue had three jokes worth mentioning.

Did you guys see the Kentucky Derby this weekend? Fifty to one long shot. Mine That Bird won. That means if you put a thousand dollars on Mine That Bird to win, you have a serious gambling problem.

A Swiss pilot has designed a pair of jet propelled wings, and is planning to use them to fly across the Grand Canyon. Experts are saying that the wings will be a huge hit… with the bottom of that canyon.

A Radio Shack employee was arrested after he punched a customer who was trying to return an item. The employee is being charged with assault, but because it’s Radio Shack, battery is not included.

Here are the two desk segments. They were decently entertaining and have some funny moments:

Jennifer Aniston was Fallon’s first guest. How was it? Well, check out these clips:

Donald Faison was Jimmy’s second guest. I’m a big fan of Donald. I think he’s hilarious on Scrubs. I wish I had clips to share. The interview was totally geeky. Donald is a “gigantic” Empire Strikes Back fan. Jimmy asked him what kind of Star Wars movie he would pitch to George Lucas. Donald’s answer was: The Chronicles of Lando Calrissian, staring Donald Faison.

Adele was the musical guest. She was on Letterman back in March. She’s still good.

Also, I caught up on the Late Show with David Letterman episodes from last week. Man, that guy is a great entertainer. There are some good clips I recommend checking out:

Dolly Parton has a bad NY trip

Dave’s monologue with a bad case of laryngitis

Dave doctors a damaged Jennifer Garner

Regis Philbin rants about Dave

Top Ten Signs You’re at a Bad Zoo

Kiefer Sutherland admits to being tortured

And, with a thick German accent, for my buddy Roger:

Late Night Highlights

Leno, Conan, Letterman, who am I forgetting? Oh yeah, it’s time to check in on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And man did I pick a good night to watch. Here were my favorite monologue jokes:

Edward Whitacre, the former chairman for AT&T, was appointed the new chairman of General Motors. I’m not sure about his business plan; he’s giving away free cars on nights and weekends. In an interview the new chairman actually said “I don’t know anything about cars.” I respect that, he’s keeping up the GM tradition.

Despite the recession McDonald’s reported its sales in May climbed 5.1%. And people who ate at McDonald’s didn’t climb anything.

This desk segment is actually funnier than it sounds. Its called cell phone shootout:

John Krasinski was the first couch guest. I think I’m one of the last six people on the planet who doesn’t watch The Office, so my knowledge of John before this was pretty limited. I thought he was really personable and funny. He made the interview really enjoyable to watch. Here’s an excerpt:

Stephen Moyer was the second couch guest. He stars in the HBO show True Blood. I don’t watch that show either, so I hadn’t heard of him before. He was also very personable and his time with Fallon was fun to watch as well.

The best part of the show for me was the demo of Project Natal for the X-Box. This is what is going to get me back in shape and stay young forever. You gotta check this out:

Manchester Orchestra was the musical guest. They were really great.

Overall, I give the show a solid A.
