Late Night Highlights

Anyone see Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night?  The monologue was nothing special, but the desk segment where he does the news promos was hysterical. I totally recommend watching that if nothing else. The follow-up segment on Ayn Rand wasn’t bad either. I give it credit for being different.

I’m super late with today’s post, so I’ll make this quick. Mike Myers was his first guest. His stories and impressions were entertaining. Anna Kournikova was his second guest. She was pretty and the beer pong was fun. The All-American Rejects were the musical guest. They rocked.

Overall, I give it an A-.

Late Show Highlights

Anyone see The Late Show with David Letterman?  The monologue was nothing special, but his story about the fun he had with his son over the weekend was entertaining. The signs your wife is having an affair with Bernie Madoff was good as well.

Top Ten

Seth Rogen was Dave’s first guest. He’s lost some weight and is looking really good. I like Seth and think he’s pretty talented. He just needs to work on his chuckle.

Tom Dreesen was Dave’s second guest. I had never seen or heard of Tom before last night. Apparently he has guest-hosted for Dave. I must have missed those. I really enjoyed his few minutes. He’s very funny and has a really fascinating history. For me, this was the best segment of the show.

Adele was the musical guest. She recently won two Grammys. She was very good.

Overall, the show was a solid B.

Late Show and Late Night Highlights

Anyone see The Late Show with David Letterman last night?  The monologue was better than usual. There were four, count ‘em four, highlights:

Ladies and gentlemen here’s some great news: New York City murder rate is down 23%. That means some of you will make it back to your hotels. But the reason the murder rate is down 23% is simple: no one can afford ammo.

A lot of excitement (at the G20 summit), they’re giving away a door prize. This year it’s Iceland.

The economy is bad in England as well. Matter of fact at Buckingham Palace you know the Queen; she’s now working in the gift shop.

“But Woody,” you’re thinking, “I don’t have time to watch the whole show.” No problem. Just spend 2:30 minutes and watch the segment with grocery bagging champ Francisco Palacios.

Ray LaMontagne was very good as the musical guest.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon started with a guest telling the monologue. I’m not sure who he was, but he was very entertaining, unlike the desk segments.

The highlight of the show for me was comedian Nick Thune. His set was very funny.
